Ecolab Inc., a global sustainability leader offering water, hygiene and infection prevention solutions and services that protect people and the resources vital to life, today released its 2022 Corporate Sustainability Report, which shows how the company is advancing its vision to build a 100% positive future. The report demonstrates Ecolab’s commitment to protecting people, planet and business health and shares progress toward its 2030 Impact Goals.

“Ecolab has remained focused on delivering concrete results year after year,” said Christophe Beck, Chairman and CEO of Ecolab. “Our 2022 Corporate Sustainability Report shows once again how we are delivering on our goals and making major steps toward our ambition to build a 100% positive future.”

For a century, Ecolab has built a legacy of global good. The successes detailed in its 2022 Corporate Sustainability Report illustrate how Ecolab is continuing its mission today.

In 2022, in collaboration with its customers, Ecolab helped:

  • Conserve 219 billion gallons of water, equivalent to the drinking water needs of 758 million people;
  • Provide safe food to 1.4 billion people;
  • Clean 57 billion hands; and
  • Avoid 3.6 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition to the impact from its work with customers, Ecolab led in its operations, where in 2022 the company continued to improve its own water impact, lower carbon emissions, deliver on DE&I commitments and foster a culture of care and safety.

Ecolab’s 2022 achievements bring the company closer to meeting its 2030 Impact Goals. By 2030, Ecolab aims to save enough water to meet the drinking water needs of 1 billion people, reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 6 million metric tons, provide quality and safe food for 2 billion people and help prevent 1.7 million infections.

By realizing its 2030 Impact Goals, Ecolab can achieve a net positive water and carbon impact. Through working with customers to implement Ecolab solutions and services that reduce water and energy use, Ecolab expects by 2030 to:

  • Rapidly grow its positive water impact by helping conserve more water at customer locations while working to continually minimise the water used in Ecolab operations and by Tier 1 suppliers; and
  • Achieve a positive climate impact by helping avoid more emissions at customer locations than those generated by Ecolab’s entire value chain.

Ecolab’s progress toward its 2030 Impact Goals reflects the company’s ongoing dedication to building a 100% positive future.
