Power plant operators know that mechanical, operational and chemical changes can lead to inefficient condenser performance causing significant financial penalties. OMNI Analytics delivers secure data analytics in real-time with new insights and solutions that predict and prevent operational problems. This allows you to move from a reactive state to being proactive and run your business more efficiently and minimise operating costs. The programme combines data analytics with over 20 years of 3D TRASAR™ digital insights, 24/7 monitoring, and on-site expertise, the critical human element, that assures reliable high performance.
Every power plant we work with does some kind of condenser performance monitoring, often looking at parameters like backpressure or calculated values like cleanliness factor. However, sophisticated data analysis provides a more complete picture of condenser operations. Benefits of OMNI Analytics include:
• Faster problem solving: OMNI Analytics helps find problems faster and direct troubleshooting efforts more effectively than more common data trending
• Detecting potential issues: Predictive Analytics detect problems before they occur
Example: To investigate a decline in cleanliness, the Predictive Analytics in OMNI Analytics evaluates fourteen variables simultaneously (including condenser operational data, water chemistry data, and real-time weather data) to quickly and accurately define the problem.
Many companies offer condenser monitoring tools to their customers. Most are automated alarm systems capable of displaying your data online. When a parameter measurement falls outside its specified range, an alarm is sent. Users then access their data online and troubleshoot. The OMNI Condenser Programme is different. When measurements fall outside of a range or our Predictive Analytics models indicate conditions are right for a problem to occur in the future, our System Assurance Centre personnel — highly educated engineers with knowledge, skills and experience in reviewing power plant condenser data — review all the available data. If they find a need to follow-up, they contact you and/or your Nalco Water sales engineer to determine next steps.
Nalco Water will still provide the full menu of products and services: feeding and controlling the right chemical programme and monitoring key leading indicators. But with this new OMNI approach, in addition to reporting these technical details, we now can monitor and report the impact of what we do on customers’ big picture metrics, the things their management cares about. We can quickly detect changes in those metrics, the OMNI programme is focused on the water treatment aspects of condenser performance, and the OMNI report delivers actionable information that helps customers maintain high efficiency, reliability and low operating costs. So OMNI changes the conversation from a discussion about leading indicators to a discussion of how the water treatment programme impacts the financial performance of the power plant.
