Ecolab Selects Ford Pro™ to Accelerate Electrification of Its North American Fleet, beginning in California.

The future is electric for Ecolab’s dedicated sales and service associates. In an exciting, accelerated effort, Ecolab is converting 100% of our North American sales and service fleet to electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030.
The work begins in California, where a just announced collaboration with Ford Pro™ will see Ecolab purchase and deploy more than 1,000 Ford F-150® Lightning® Pro trucks and Mustang® Mach-E® SUVs for our fleet. Ford Pro also offers a full suite of charging and telematics software that we will use to help maximise vehicle performance and fleet productivity.
The electrification effort will expand across California, and by 2025, Ecolab will have updated every vehicle used by our field associates to serve customers each day. Once finished, Ecolab and Ford Pro will have created what’s anticipated to be the largest all-electric sales and service fleet in California.
And while electrifying more than 1,000 vehicles represents a major milestone, it’s only the beginning. Following success in California, Ecolab will turn to the more than 11,000 light-duty vehicles that make up our North American fleet, targeting complete fleet electrification by 2030.
Good for Business, Good for Planet
By converting to electric vehicles, Ecolab is taking another crucial step toward achieving our net positive climate impact and sustainable growth goals.
“We grow our business by doing what’s right and doing it well,” said Christophe Beck, Chairman and CEO, Ecolab. “In this next phase in our relationship with Ford, we will move quickly and at scale to demonstrate how businesses can improve profits, leverage renewable electricity and deploy cutting-edge EV solutions for the betterment of employees, business and the planet over time.”
In going electric, Ecolab estimates that we can reduce overall costs. Ecolab’s financial models forecast a lower total cost of ownership over the life of the vehicles, compared to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. These savings stem from reduced fuel costs, lower service downtime and maintenance costs, and continued advancements in EV technology solutions. Additionally, an all-electric fleet cuts direct emissions from vehicles, helping Ecolab make significant strides toward our net-zero commitments.
“Sustainability is core to our purpose at Ecolab,” said Emilio Tenuta, Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer, Ecolab. “By accelerating the electrification of our fleet, we are further growing the positive impact we can have on the world. Ecolab’s switch to EVs in North America is part of our holistic electrification strategy, building on our launch of EV pilot programmes in Europe and investments in renewable energy projects to meet 100% of our electricity demand in North America and Europe."
A Storied History of Collaboration
Ecolab’s fleet electrification journey with Ford is just the latest chapter in a rich history between like-minded companies committed to sustainable business growth.
Since 1925, Ecolab and Ford have had a business relationship, including collaboration on reducing and reusing water. With the help of Ecolab, Ford has reduced water usage in its manufacturing, supporting freshwater availability in local communities. Ford’s assembly plants track water usage through connected water meters that are monitored at the Ecolab Global Intelligence Centre.
By continuing their nearly 100 years of committed collaboration, Ecolab and Ford are showing how sustainability and business results go hand in hand.
